Tonight's update must start with a bit of sad news. As most of you have probably heard by now, Maker Media has ceased all operations and laid off all staff. What that will mean after the dust settles is still unknown, but as of right now, the official Maker Faires are no more...

I can not overstate the importance of Maker Faire to my life, both personally and professionally. Over the years I have met countless friends, learned from our community's best and brightest and shared the things I am passionate about with folks from all over the world.

Make Magazine and the Maker Faires didn't simply show off cool projects and techniques. It let regular people know that the world really can be what you make it. Creativity comes in all sizes, budgets and levels of experience. It doesn't matter if you're an 8 year old with some cardboard and glue or a team of scientists with million dollar CNCs. The act of creating something connects all of us to humanity's past, present and future. From stone arrowheads to space ships, it is the drive to create that allows us to become something more than we were just yesterday.

I'm optimistic that something good will come from this and the maker community will only grow stronger. But right now it's a bummer.

Updated Shipping Doc

I'm still getting tracking numbers out to folks from the first batch. So if you haven't yet received yours, you should expect it within 24-48 hours. The second batch will start heading out on 6/14 to 6/18.

I need to add website preorders and will have that done tomorrow.

Mugsy OS

I'm putting the final touches on the public Mugsy OS release and plan on having it up by Wednesday evening. You will be able to access it in the "release" directory on the main github once it is up.
