Shipping Update

Hey folks, going to jump right.

The Bits

Direct Shipments(From Mugsy HQ)

  • I've started sending new tracking info out for a limited number of directs from the shop(Less than 10). I really want to get at least a few units in hands while working through the larger batches so will be primarily focused on these until Wednesday. ETA to ship is Wednesday 1/29 with earliest deliveries on 1/31. Some of you may have seen auto emails from UPS for these label today(if you have an account with them), you will also receive confirmation from me on Tuesday or Wednesday.

  • The first batch of assembled units should go out on Wednesday, February 4th. Assembly is at about 50% for the first 5 of the batch. I will have more details on progress in the next update.

Direct Shipments(From Fulfilment Centers)

NA and EU: Current estimates for these batches to start moving is February 6th to February 10th. Some may move sooner but I don't think it's likely. The blocker here has been "Dimensional Weight". Basically, the bigger the box, the higher the shipping price. Regardless of weight, Our 15x15x15 box is typically above the max size for the cheapest rates. My initial plan to fix this was to split kits into two boxes. Two boxes would not be an option for assembled units(or ones already shipped!).

One of my calls today was with an all in one shipping company. These companies hold your hand through the entire process while saving money through their existing contracts with the major carriers. Similar to FBA in some ways, but very different in the amount of guidance they provide and ease of use. I have decided to work with EasyShip and started the ball rolling on this last week. On average I was able to get per shipment costs down by 15-20%, with some region's rates going down by as much as 40%.

There are a few more account set up hops to jump through with EasyShip, but everything should be done before the end of this week. Once completed, there will be a couple of days before shipments start rolling from their current locations on February 6th(estimated).

I'm pretty confident in these dates right now and will confirm them in the next update.

Unshipped Units

  • NA and EU Kits: Larger batches will start going out next week once the EasyShip set up is completed. I expect that it will take 4-6 weeks to ship 100% of these units once we start. I will have more info on ETA for specific order #s in next Monday's Update(2/3).

  • South America and Rest of World: I'm 2-3 weeks away from starting these shipments. These regions have some different shipping requirements that I am still working out all the details on. I will definitely have an updated update on these units on Monday(2/3).

OK, that's all for now. Thanks for bearing with me while I sort these issues out. We are currently 14 months late on our original Kickstarter estimate. I believe we will be 16 months late(plus a few days) all in by the time our last few packages are finally on the road. It's been a slog for sure...
