Bits!

Hey folks, let's get to it!

First Boot Updates

When Mugsy first boots, you are dropped into the Wifi config screen to connect the system to your local network. Initially, this info was entered using an onscreen keyboard. The keyboard is built using Javascript and HTML. Normally, this is a great option but I started running into some issues maintaining compatibility with Chromium, the browser Mugsy currently uses to display its interface in Kiosk mode.

To get around this, I have updated the networking configuration to follow the same process that many modern internet enabled devices use to connect to Wifi.

Updated Wifi Config

Updated Wifi Config

How it works:

  • When Mugsy boots for the first time, it will create it's own ad-hoc wifi network with the SSID: MugsyWIFI.

  • You will then connect to Mugsy's Wifi using any wifi enabled device.

  • Once you are connected and open up a browser you will be directed to the Wifi config screen to select a network and enter your key.

Easy peasy. If you move your Mugsy to a new location, just hold the front panel control knob down for 10 seconds and it will reset the Wifi config and allow you to configure a new connection.

Build Vid Updates

The next build videos to go up will be Head Section Assembly, Screen Panel Assembly and Power Routing. The first two have a less < 1 hour left in editing before uploading to Youtube. Those will go up tomorrow night. Power routing will hit Youtube on Thursday or Friday.

Shipping and Other Bits

  • We are still holding at 4 new kits shipped.

  • We have 6 kits just about ready to go that will be out on Thursday or Friday. There are no blockers related to packing kits, but I am finding additional tweaks/double checks to confirm while signing off on stuff. These are quickly winding down to zero.

  • I have started reaching out to the users that will be getting their confirmations and shipments out in next week’s batches. By the end of next week we should have 20 kits out.

  • After that we will hold off on new shipments for 3-5 days while I go over landed kits with users and make sure everything is going as expected. Ramp up will after that. EU shipments are still 2-3 weeks away from starting up.

  • Working to have an update on Assembled Unit shipping start up ETA by next week.

  • We should have some user created content before the end of this week.

  • I uploaded some additional CAD parts to the Github that were missing, you can find them here: https://github.com/margyle/MugsyDev/tree/master/CAD

Ok, that is all for now. Next update will be on Thursday or Friday. I will also post quick notices when any units go out.

Cheers,

-m
