Update!

Hey folks, hope all is well out there! Here are the bits…

Screen Stabilizer

The screen stabilizer parts have been sent to fabrication and I have been notified that they have been processed and queued up to be cut. Some additional info:

  • The latest these should ship from from the fab is the 11th. Shipping time is expected to be two days.

  • The design has been tweaked since the last update. Instead of connecting directly to additional extrusions, there are now separate aluminum parts to connect the screen stabilizer to the head section’s front extrusions. This saves some room and reduces assembly complexity while increasing stability even more. Here are some renders of the assembled stabilizer with and without the screen:

  • And here are the individual parts so you can better see how everything fits together:

  • The arms screw into the main stabilizer through slots, so the fit can be adjusted to match any variance that may pop up in a machine after assembly is completed.

  • The front panel dial/knob will now mount to the stabilizer arm.

Mug Platform

  • The mug platform is now completely independent of the rest of the machine. This allows Mugsy to provide very accurate flow control by continually weighing the coffee as it pours. Visually, there is zero difference in appearance. Everything is in the same place, it's just not screwed directly into the front extrusion.

  • The platform itself is mounted on top of two supports. Each support has two weight sensors, while the right side support also has the RFID reader mounted within it. Basically, the entire platform is now a slightly fancier than usual kitchen scale. Here are some images:

The above image shows the underside of the mug platform and how the supports are mounted to it. The image below shows the top of the right side support.

  • Everything sits flush within the base section’s extrusions.

  • This part design is done but final material will likely change from this 3d printed version. I’ll have more info/confirmation on this in a few days.

  • Once this is wired up, I’ll make a quick video of it in use. All the code for this functionality is done, the only update here is the support design and disconnecting the platform from the enclosure.

Ok, that is all for now. I should be able to finish up all remaining assembly tasks while I wait for the stabilizers to arrive. Next update will be next weekend. If I can get to a point where I can start filming some actual functional demos before then, I will push them out immediately .

Thanks and have a great week!
