Wiring Update!

Hey folks! Hope all is well out there! Here are the bits:

  • Switching to network cables for most of the wiring has been a huge win. Assembly is way easier, connections are stronger, and routing options are way more plentiful. Here is a quick demo clip of data and power going over network cable to the cone mechanism. I set the stepper spinning before the cable is connected, and then start/stop the stepper a few times over the serial connection:

  • There are some adjustments to be made around how to best position the ports and I have a few different styles of breakouts that I am testing through. I expect another 2-3 days before this piece is completed.

  • I am working through some bugs with water level status, display and notifications. No firm root cause yet but will keep everyone posted.

  • I also had to spend some time updating my primary workstation’s OS which limited my ability to work on Mugsy for big chunk of the weekend. I tend to stick with an OS once I have a system the way I like it, but several of my daily apps started dropping support for this version, so it was time to jump. Most of the time was spent rebuilding dev environments and toolchains.

Ok, that is all for tonight. Next update will be on Thursday or Friday. Thanks!
