Brew Tests
Hey folks, hope all is well out there. Tonight will be a quick update just to share some brew test vids.
Brew Tests:
Additional Details:
In the first test there is some flow stuttering due to air getting into the system, but I wanted to show the brew starting using the RFID mug. Second test, flow looks good, also experimenting with some filters in the standard cone. Third is just a water pour.
There are several zeroing moves thrown into these command batches. Typically you would just have one at the start of a new brew, but I’m testing pump control logic and confirming no water is moving during zero moves.
The recipe is very basic, just the same set of two moves over and over. Additionally, Im just using some pre-ground drip coffee for these tests.
As noted, these brews were started using the RFID tag on the mug and the following functions all ran without issue:
The tag ID was read and then sent to DECAF
DECAF grabbed the coffee now recipe for the associated user
DECAF then opened up a connection to Operator’s brew service and sent the step instructions
Operator is tracking mug weight during the brew and making sure sensor values are within normal ranges.
The mug weight platform is able to stop the brew once the desired pour weight is reached.
Some things were not represented in these tests, specifically relay related services like the grinder and heater. Since I’ve been focused only on mech related functionality lately, this test rig is set up for that. Now that we are moving on from this work, we will be shifting things back over to Mugsy’s real life enclosure. You can expect to see brew demos with grinding in the next week or two. Also please note that these relay services have been completed for a quite a while now so no dev work to do.
There is still some clean up to do on the brew service. I had to refactor things a bit to simplify the logic and control flow. There was some unnecessary complexity in there for sure. I probably wont touch Operator for at least a few days and plan to release the RC version next week.
I know not everyone will be satisfied with these demonstrations. I know you want to see the UI and Mugsy looking like Mugsy. We are close to that. But I hope that keeping up with these videos and code releases will demonstrate that continued and significant progress is being made.
I will be away this weekend and there will be no update going out. The next full update will be out on the 15th. Between now and then, I will be going over remaining work so I can update and share some timelines. Now that this area of work is mostly done, I need to zoom out a little a bit so I can better understand what the next actions look like. I will put out a quickie if there is anything worth sharing before then.
Cheers!
