12oz Pour Demo

Hey folks, hope all is well! Today I continued to dial in the pause functionality and cone scale limits. Things are working really well and the results have been very consistent.

Here are some details for this demo:

  • 12oz pour with a 20 second bloom after the first pour. 20g of coffee and water temp is 200.

  • After that, there is a 4 move command batch and then a 10 second pause to allow the cone to empty a bit. This batch repeats a few times.

  • After the 3rd round of pour moves, the water level gets quite close to the limit. This shows that we should lower the max cone weight by a few grams. That will cover overflow protection but the recipe can also continue to be dialed in to pour less for that batch of moves. That being said, the existing limit did it’s job and there was no overflow.

  • As we brew more recipes, we will get more data on how quickly the water is flowing out of the cone and how all the different parameters impact that rate. This data will inform the recipe creation functionality so you’re not going in blind.

  • You may notice my hands pop in and out of view a couple of times. I was white knuckling it a bit, and the mug platform scale acts as a kill switch when the max weight is reached. A few seconds after the final pour I actually do push on it so I could be doubly sure that the brew had completed. Not needed but I had a bit of anxiety after yesterday’s mess 🤘🤘

  • Total time for this brew is just under 4 minutes, the last pour is completed around 1:45. The remaining time is mostly dead air while the cone empties, but I wanted to show the complete pour from start to finish.

  • Happy to confirm it tasted great!

Ok, that is all for now. I have a few more adjustments to make to the pause functionality and will have that code pushed as soon as possible. For the next update and demo, I will be moving back to the main enclosure and brewing from the UI. I do not expect to integrate the grinder back into the loop until after that. So grinder demos should start going out at the end of the month.

See everyone again next weekend. Cheers!
